Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach demands “better energy” from slumping team

As Borussia Mönchengladbach seek to shake off a critical Bundesliga defeat against Freiburg last weekend, matters are not looking great ahead of the next match. Head coach Gerardo Seoane’s Foals face Borussia Dortmund on Easter Sunday and injuries have not cleared up. Seaone also appeared a rattled at Friday’s press conference.

Seoane’s Niederrheiner head to Signal Iduna Park to face a BVB side fresh off a confident home win in the Champions League. The fact that Dortmund’s win over Barcelona didn’t help them avoid UCL elimination gives Niko Kovac’s team that more motivation to climb up the table. Seaone has lost twice and drawn once against Dortmund in his tenure coaching Gladbach.

Looking a little haggard and often displaying nervous ticks, Seoane didn’t have any straight answers when asked about injury statuses at Friday’s presser. Franck Honorat, Robin Hack, and Rocco Reitz all remain doubtful. Seoane completely evaded the question as to whether regular keeper and captain Jonas Omlin will return between the sticks.

All teams have to go through injury problems at some point,” Seoane said. “The coaching team and I have discussions. We have a large in squad in which we have a lot of trust. The overall strength of the squad is good. We’ve coped with this before.

“Everybody knows that there are certain stadiums [like Dortmund’s] at which it’s harder to earn points,” Seoane continued. “I’m still confident that the team will bring better energy to this game than the last two.”
