What: A hair tools brand founded by a husband-and-wife duo that offers high-performing curling irons, flat irons, hair dryers, blow dry brushes and more for every hair type.

Price Range: $30-$400

Founders: Kent Yu and Julie Chung

Origin Story: In 2003, Julie Chung started her usual beauty routine before a night out in Los Angeles with her now-husband, Kent Yu. Yu watched as Chung carefully applied her skin care, then her makeup – using premium products that made her skin glow – only to finish with an inexpensive hair dryer that left her hair over-dried and uncooperative.

Yu saw her frustration and was struck with an idea: high-performing, exceptionally designed hair tools that would perform as well for hair as the best of beauty products did for skin. Devices that would help Chung – and other women like her – style well and look great without the damage or hassle. Inspired by Chung, driven by insight and energized by L.A.’s trendsetting spirit and innovation culture, Yu founded T3 and pioneered the prestige hair tools category.

Today, T3 works to create hair tools that “pair powerful performance with unmistakable designs and tells stories that celebrate diverse hair and the vibrant L.A. culture.”
