Bigfork hands Whitefish baseball loss



WHITEFISH — Mason Lewis threw a complete game and picked up a 4-3 win as the Bigfork Vikings edged the Whitefish Bulldogs in a North A baseball battle Tuesday.  

Lewis pounded the zone all night, not walking a single batter and allowing only two earned runs despite Whitefish having nine hits. After giving up earned runs in the third and fourth inning, Lewis retired seven straight batters and got Luke Dalen to ground out with the tyig run on second. 

Hayden Mayer started the scoring for Bigfork (6-3 overall, 6-2 in league games) in the second inning when he singled, stole second and came around on Grady Campbell’s base hit. The Vikings added three more in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead on RBI singles from Liam Benson and Sam Plummer. 

Logan Stewart started opposite Lewis, lasting five innings, striking out nine but walking four — two of them coming around to score in the fifth. Calvin Eisenbarth led the Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2 in league), going 3-for-3 with a double. Christian Schwaderer added a triple and an RBI. 

Eureka 11, Polson 5 

POLSON — Rowan Burow struck out nine batters and went 2-for-4 with four RBIs at the plate to help earn himself a win as the Eureka Lions surged ahead in the final two innings. 

Down 2-0 and 3-2, the Lions (8-2, 7-1 in the North A) scored nine runs over innings 5-6-7. They broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning with four runs, two of them coming from errors.  

Logan Cuffe picked up two hits and a run scored with both of his RBIs coming via base on balls. Rogan Lytle had three hits, including a double, and three runs.  

Cole Wadsworth scored for Polson (5-2 overall and in league play) in the first inning, coming around to score on a Cody Haggard double. Landon Shoemake drove in a run and reached base in all four at bats, including a triple.  

C-Falls 13, Ronan 3 

COLUMBIA FALLS — Nico Young hit a 2-run home run in the first inning and finished the game with four RBIs as the Columbia Falls Wildcats pulled away in the final two innings to pick up a win over the Ronan Chiefs. 

The Wildcats (7-1, 6-0 in league) scored nine unanswered runs to reach the run rule in the fifth inning. They scored six runs in the final frame, the last one coming on a Brady Matson single on his way to a 4-for-4 day. 

Treysen Murphy picked up the win for Columbia Falls, lasting five innings with six strikeouts and one earned run. He added two hits at the plate, scoring three times.  

Ronan (5-4-1, 4-4 in the North A) had three hits, including Everett Lozeau’s RBI single in the first inning.
