Miron Crosby Co-Founders (and sisters!) Lizzie and Sarah Means didn’t begin their professional paths thinking they’d one day go into the luxury cowboy boot business together. Lizzie started her career in finance, while Sarah spent some time working in sales for Loeffler Randall — both gigs brought them from their native Texas to New York City.
But the duo never forgot their Texan roots — or uniquely Texan sense of style. “We were ranch kids and wore cowboy boots, it was very much our aesthetic growing up,” Lizzie told Dhani live on The Fashionista Network. (Watch it here!) As adults in New York, she added, “I wore [cowboy boots] with my Theory pencil skirts; Sarah wore hers with jeans… People would stop us on the street and ask us about our boots constantly, we just felt like they really resonated with people.”
Both women, who indeed grew up on a cattle ranch outside of Marfa, Texas, always had an interest in fashion. So after more than a decade spent living in NYC, Lizzie decided to return to her Southwestern roots and move to Dallas, with Sarah also eventually doing the same. Inspired by that interest in cowboy boots they’d noticed in New York — and some family connections in the boot business — the pair launched Miron Crosby in 2017.
“We felt like for so long cowboy boots just meant one thing to a consumer; they were brown and a little bit utilitarian,” recalled Sarah. So she and Lizzie set out to put a luxury fashion spin on the iconic footwear style. “We felt like there was a real opportunity for somebody to be true to the silhouette and really honor the craftsmanship,” she said.

That combination of authentic, hand-made boots with fashionable, often colorful touches is what has set Miron Crosby apart in the market, according to the co-founders. Quality is also a major factor: “We really focus on materials…and our manufacturers are artisans with decades of experience,” noted Sarah, who described the brand’s boots as “works of art.”
As Miron Crosby enters its eighth year of business, Lizzie and Sarah shared that the brand’s expansion has been a uniquely slow and steady one. Although they opened their first brick-and-mortar store in Dallas the same day they launched their DTC website for the brand, their subsequent outposts in locations like Aspen, Sun Valley and Jackson Hole didn’t come until later on.
“Looking back to our baby years, one of the things that I’m really proud of… is being patient and playing the long game,” said Lizzie. “We’re slower to maybe gain some of the things people see as crown jewels — like money or attention — but I think we’re seeing it really pay off in the aspirations we’ve hoped for. Some advice I have is to play the slow game, and I think we’ve done that.”
Other highlights from the conversation include reflections on Miron Crosby’s most significant moment, like seeing Gigi Hadid wear their product in the pages of Vogue — a “pinch-me moment” for Lizzie — as well as how stars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have impacted the Western-wear trend in recent years. Plus, they opened up about their very best career advice for those looking to get into the fashion industry. Watch the full interview here.
