Earlier today I wrote that Manchester City had to be ruthless this summer with who departs the club. The club have already made a ruthless call in deciding not to offer Kevin De Bruyne a contract for next season. Now a new report indicates that City have told Bernardo Silva that he is not a part of their plans for next season. If the report is correct there will be another sad departure from the world champions. But if Bernardo does leave he has given his all for Pep Guardiola and his team throughout City’s era of dominance.
Sacha Tavolieri has reported for SkySports that Manchester City have informed Bernardo Silva that he isn’t a part of their plans for next season. Furthermore, Tavolieri reports that Bernardo has his heart set on returning to Portugal at the end of this season. Tavolieri also reports that Bernardo has agreed personal terms with Benfica. Lastly, Tavolieri reports that Benfica cannot afford the release clause in Bernardo’s current contract. It is hoped that a deal can be agreed between the two clubs that will see Bernardo return to Benfica.
Perhaps no player epitomizes the sacrifice required to conquer English and European football more than Bernardo Silva. He has played almost every role for Pep Guardiola and sacrificed his own game for the betterment of his team. As Manchester City have scaled the proverbial mountain time and time again Bernardo would do whatever was required for his team. He has played as a left-back, in midfield and on a wing for Pep Guardiola. He is also one player who will always track back and help his teammates defensively. Bernardo has been an influential contributor to Manchester City and their success. He’s almost been Pep Guardiola’s most important player during his time at the club.
Summary.
If Bernardo Silva is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season it can rest assured that he will do all he can to help the club win the FA Cup and secure Champions League qualification. His dedication to the cause has typified his time at the club. If this is to be his last season at Manchester City he will want to go out with a trophy and with the club well set for the future.
All indications are based on Sacha Tavolieri’s report that Bernardo Silva is the next player to leave the Etihad this summer. If he is, he has done all he can for the club, and his legacy is already secure as a key part of Manchester City’s recent history.
