The Pittsburgh Steelers’ first-round selection of Derrick Harmon in the 2025 NFL Draft is officially in the history books — and while excitement over what the rookie may accomplish this season is palpable, all eyes now turn to Day 2 prospects.
The Steelers don’t currently hold a second-round pick, and while it’s possible Pittsburgh could trade into picks No. 33 to 64, it’s more likely they’ll make their first Day 2 selection at pick No. 83 in the third round.
With that in mind, here are the five best prospects remaining on Day 2 for the Steelers at that spot:
S Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina
Emmanwori, one of the top safeties in the class, previously met with the Steelers during a pre-draft top-30 visit. It would take a miracle for him to fall to Pittsburgh in Round 3 — but stranger things have already happened in this draft. Just ask Shedeur Sanders.
While the Steelers are likely looking to add speed to the running back room in the draft, Skattebo might be too good to pass up. In one of the most loaded RB classes in recent memory, he still makes a case as one of the most complete backs in 2025 — despite lacking true home-run speed.
Noel, another of the Steelers’ pre-draft top-30 visitors, fits the prototypical Pittsburgh mold of drafting great mid- to late-round wide receivers. With George Pickens likely on the way out after the 2025 season — and Roman Wilson or Calvin Austin unlikely to fill his shoes — taking a shot on Noel seems like the most realistic first step in preparing for the future.
QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama
There’s little chance Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide takes him as far as the third round in the 2025 NFL Draft — and while stranger things have happened, Milroe would be a slam dunk at pick No. 83. His athleticism and football IQ are off-the-charts scary — making him a perfect draft-and-develop quarterback prospect, especially for a Steelers team facing a loaded AFC North full of elite signal-callers.
RB Jaydon Blue, Texas
If the Steelers truly want a running back who can take any carry to the house, there may be no greater need-for-speed prospect than Jaydon Blue. The Texas Longhorn reportedly ran an unofficial 4.25 at his pro day and followed it up with an impressive 4.38 official 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine — all while dealing with a groin injury. Blue has been projected as a potential Day 3 pick, but the kind of speed he brings could completely reshape the Steelers’ offense.
