Kate Middleton Has Found Her New (But Old) Spring Wardrobe Staple

It’s no secret that when the Kate Middleton finds a look that she likes, she sticks to it. Think of the Catherine Walker coat dresses she’s still wearing more than a decade later, or her favorite skinny jeans, which she’s sported for two days in a row now for a visit to the Scottish Isle of Mull.

For today’s outing to Ardura Acorns, an outdoor learning playgroup, the Princess of Wales paired her divisive denim with a Ralph Lauren tweed jacket, a tonal V-neck jumper, and a frilly white blouse. On her feet? The same sturdy pair of See by Chloé boots she wore on the previous day.

In fact, the tweed jacket has become the royal’s transitional outerwear of choice this spring, with Kate opting for a more polished double-breasted herringbone tweed blazer by Holland Cooper for the previous day’s engagements. Although the staple has often appeared in her wardrobe over the years, it seems to have found favor with the Princess once again: in February, she wore a similar khaki tweed blazer by Ralph Lauren, which she had previously debuted 20 years earlier.

While Sloane Ranger style is enjoying a comeback right now, the striking similarity between Kate’s country-casual looks over the past two days is in keeping with her current “don’t look at me” approach to dressing. Expect her to still be wearing her latest Ralph Lauren jacket in another 20 years—she’s known as the queen of rewears with good reason.
