Stockholm Fashion Week returns
Stockholm Fashion Week, which was abruptly canceled six years ago due to lack of funding, will officially return on June 2-5. The Swedish government will financially back its relaunch. Hoka accused of cultural appropriation
Indigenous intellectual property experts in New Zealand accused running shoe brand Hoka of misappropriating Maori culture with its brand name. The company — whose name is from the Maori word “hoka,” meaning “to fly” — has allegedly failed to acknowledge its cultural origins. Experts are calling on Hoka to consult with the Indigenous community to navigate the best practices for honoring the culture. “If you’re going to use someone else’s culture for your own product, you should at least know what the value of that cultural item is and acknowledge it,” Dr. Karaitiana Taiuru, a leading intellectual property rights expert, told Business of Fashion. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}

Burberry partners with The V&A Museum Fashion Gallery
The Victoria & Albert Museum is transforming and renaming its fashion wing to The Burberry Gallery, starting in spring 2027. The redevelopment is part of a multi-year partnership between Burberry and the London-based arts museum. The new gallery will feature an expansive fashion collection from both brands and individuals. The current fashion wing will close starting this May, but its items will still be available to see at the V&A East Storehouse and online. {Burberry}
The human cost of digital disruption in fashion
While digital solutions like artificial intelligence offer efficiency for the fashion industry, it comes at the expense of reduced job opportunities, inadequate compensation and automated creative output. This challenges industry leaders to rethink how to optimize these technological advancements in a way that’s financially sustainable for workers and doesn’t sacrifice originality and the human touch. {Fashion United}
More colleges are offering classes about the beauty industry
Business of Fashion‘s Faran Krentcil reported that universities are increasingly introducing courses and curriculums geared toward careers in the cosmetics industry. Some of these academic institutions include SCAD, Spelman College, FIT and Arizona State University’s FIDM. Brands should also pay attention to beauty curricula as they’re an effective way to target a new market of consumers. Plus, recruiters have a direct pool of potential candidates they can train and hire. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}
