The 2025 Masters is in full swing, with the world's top golf players putting their all toward being crowned champion — and taking home a portion of the large purse.

While several players are fiercely competing for another shot at the title — including Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose — one of the largest prize pools in professional golf is also on the line. After reaching $20 million in 2024, this year's Masters purse has been raised by $1 million dollars.

While reigning champion Scottie Scheffler took home $3.6 million in winnings in addition to his title last April, whoever earns the green jacket this year will earn even more.

So, how much will the winners and other participants take home from the historic event this year? Here's everything to know about the 2025 Masters purse.

The prize money at the Masters Tournament has seen significant growth since its inaugural year in 1934. The prize pool has nearly quadrupled in the last two decades, with the biggest jump being the $3.5 million increase from 2021 to 2022, per Statista.

In 2024, Scheffler took home $3.6 million. Looking further back, the Masters champion received $3.24 million in 2023, and $2.7 million in 2022. The winner's prize has jumped significantly within the last decade, as the Masters winner in 2015 won $1.8 million.

Though players have the most money on the line at the Masters, they aren't the only ones leaving with a paycheck.

Caddies are paid a weekly wage between $2,000 to $4,000, which varies based on experience, plus a percentage of the player's tournament earnings, the Association of Professional Caddies and the Caddies Network told CBS News.

The caddie of the Masters winner earns 10% of their paycheck, meaning they could also walk away with six figures for four days of work. Meanwhile, the caddie of the runner-up gets 7% of their paycheck, while the rest of the caddies make 5%.

However, if a caddie's player doesn't make the cut, they will only be paid the weekly wages, Caddies Network CEO John von Stade told CBS.

"Caddies are treated really great at Augusta," Ken Martin, who caddied for Scottish golfer Sandy Lyle in 2024, told the outlet. "We had our own locker room. They feed us just wonderful food — the best food I've ever had really."

Though the Masters has a high payout, it's not the largest among golf tournaments. According to CBS Sports, the Players Championship holds the record for the biggest purse, with $25 million doled out in 2025.

The other major golf tournaments — the PGA Championship, the Open Championship and the U.S. Open — offer substantial prize money, too. The 2024 PGA Championship saw a $18.5 million purse, while the 2024 U.S. Open and the Open Championship had a prize fund of $21.5 million and $17 million, respectively.
