Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Corbin Burnes has been one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball since making his debut in 2018.

After spending his first six seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Burnes was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, where he played just one season.

He was set to take on free agency this past offseason in pursuit of signing with a team that would commit to him long-term while paying him the money he deserves.

Arizona was the team that Burnes committed to, signing a six-year, $210 million deal with the Diamondbacks.

So far in his first year in Arizona, the 30-year-old has continued his dominant play, having an ERA of 2.66, a 1.17 WHIP, and striking out 63 batters in 64.1 innings pitched.

He started Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals, continuing to show that he deserves the $35 million-a-year contract he signed, pitching 4.2 innings, giving up 4 hits and one earned run.

His day was cut short after giving up a single to Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams in the top of the fifth.

At the end of the seven-pitch at-bat, Burnes appeared to be frustrated and was replaced by lefty Jalen Beeks.

It was later found out that he was experiencing soreness in his throwing elbow, and he was seen saying, "My elbow, it's dead," after his last pitch thrown on Sunday.

After leaving the game, he spoke with the press on what he experienced on Sunday and what can be expected moving forward.

"It got to the point where the tightness was too much… Hopefully we caught it early and hopefully it's not too bad, but we'll see," Burnes said after the 3-1 win.

The first-year Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher will be set to get an MRI on Monday morning to determine the severity of the injury.

The Diamondbacks will travel to Atlanta and take on the Braves in a three-game series that begins on Tuesday.
