Salma Hayek Pinault Doesn’t Use Fillers or Dye Her Hair—She Does This Instead

At 58 years old, Salma Hayek Pinault is on a mission to embrace what “the years have gifted me,” she says. While sharing her beauty secrets with Vogue, the actress explains, “I don’t want to look overproduced. Everybody is too overproduced, and they look gorgeous, but that’s not the look I want for myself.”

And so, while Hayek Pinault does dabble in the non-invasive Ultherapy Prime, she prefers makeup over fillers for an additional contouring fix. Toward the start of her beauty routine, the Frida star applies Victoria Beckham’s creamy eyeshadow to some unexpected spots. Using the stick to draw smoky lines onto her cheeks and nose, Hayek explains that the shading technique is clutch for “an extra kind of punch in specific places.”

Later, the Mexico native taps on her setting powder before picking up Victoria Beckham’s concealer pen. “You have to be good to do what I’m about to do!” she says. “Usually, powder is hard to mix with other things, so you have to have the perfect touch.” Hayek Pinault has just that, but the sculpting is not to her liking just yet. She swoops on a bronzing powder next—“to contour on top of the other powder,” she laughs—then casts her cheeks in a pink glow using Gucci’s luminous blush.

Her makeup routine doesn’t end with the face. As a rule, “I do not dye my hair,” the producer says. But she does zhuzh it up with mascara. Swiping Benefit’s Roller Lash through her hairline, Hayek Pinault says that she uses the techniques to help blend stray grays.

Offering a bit of parting wisdom, the actress urges: “You have to change your makeup and beauty routine as you get older. Maybe what worked before isn’t working now. So it’s good to be adventurous, creative, and try to have fun while you’re doing it.” It’s a lesson that Hayek Pinault learned close to home. “I’m very lucky because I had this grandmother who was obsessed with beauty and knew all kinds of tricks,” she says.
