The top earners on the PGA Tour are there for a reason: they’re playing well this season.

So it’s no stunner that players on the Tour money list through No. 49 Cameron Young are in the field for this week’s U.S. Open, at the Oakmont Country Club.

They’ll begin playing for a sizable purse on June 12, and given how difficult Oakmont has been in the past, the winner will surely have earned it.

What’s the US Open purse for 2025?

The United States Golf Association won’t release the purse until later in the week but it was $4.3 million last year, with $4.3 going to winner Bryson DeChambeau. And purses usually don’t go backward, so count on more being up for grabs.

What were the purses for the first two major championships?

The Masters handed out $21 million, with $4.2 going to McIlroy for his victory.

The PGA Championship purse was $19 million, with Scheffler earning $3.42 million for winning.

The richest purse for PGA Tour events or majors is The Players Championship, at $25 million overall and $4.5 million for McIlroy’s victory

Who’s leading the PGA Tour in earnings?

Scottie Scheffler is on top for the second week in a row since supplanting Rory McIlroy by winning The Memorial. Scheffler has $14,558,697 and has a lead of $580,357 over McIlroy ($13,978,340).

McIlroy is the only player who can catch Scheffler this week. Based on last year’s purse, McIlroy can overhaul Scheffler with a finish of at least seventh place, provided Scheffler misses the cut or makes the weekend and earns a minimal amount.
