Bella Hadid Just Revived Her Signature Hairstyle

The true marker of one’s fame is, arguably, a signature hairdo. Take Chappell Roan’s fiery-red, curly locks, Selena Gomez’s chocolate brown tresses, and Ariana Grande’s iconic ponytail.

Over the past few years, model and beauty brand founder Bella Hadid steadily claimed the slicked-back bun as her beauty signifier. Recently, however, she appeared to all but retire the up-do and reserve it only for the runway—favoring loose, beachy waves instead. Happily, it seems that Hadid’s slicked-back bun is back, in all its effortlessly chic glory.

Pausing to greet fans while filming her new show The Beauty in Paris, Hadid—who wore a patchwork top, floor-grazing jeans, and pointed heels—seemed to be in high spirits. Ever the master of dewy makeup, the star looked fresh-faced, wearing just a swipe of blusher, matching cream lipstick, and thin eyeliner. Doing away with dramatic nails, she kept them au naturel.

Drawing the look together was that perfect slicked-back bun—secured in the center—bringing her facial features to the fore. Easy to recreate, the hairstyle works for almost any scenario. Out for dinner with friends or on a first date? Strolling through the park with your dog or going to a pottery class? Throw your hair up, slick it back, and secure it in a bun, so it doesn’t budge.

The secret to perfecting the style? “Follow your cheekbone for the perfect placement,” celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton told Vogue previously. “Then wrap it round in a clockwork direction… and leave the ends out to give it a little bit of edge and add a second elastic to hold it in place as pins can be unpredictable.” For a little extra sparkle, spritz on some finishing spray or shine gloss—and you’re ready to hit the town, Bella Hadid style!
