Oklahoma forward sustains torn Achilles in draft workout

Former Oklahoma forward Jalon Moore reportedly sustained a torn Achilles tendon during a team workout, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.

Moore averaged a career-high 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds on 38.1% shooting from 3-point range in 34 appearances last season as a fourth-year senior. He ranked 12th in the SEC in points (541) and 14th in field goals (178).

The 6-foot-7 standout suffered the injury during a recent visit with the San Antonio Spurs. He reportedly underwent surgery the following day and is expected to make a full recovery, though he will likely miss most of the upcoming season.

Moore competed in the combine last month, averaging nine points, five rebounds and one assist in two scrimmage games in Chicago, Illinois. He was tied for the eighth-highest max vertical jump (39 inches) and measured in with a 6-foot, 10 1/4-inch wingspan.

The 22-year-old was considered a potential second-round pick because of his athleticism, length, scoring and ability to stretch the floor. He was electric at times with the Sooners, particularly in the open court, and made a living above the rim.

Moore will likely see his draft stock take a hit and may face difficulties signing as an undrafted free agent following the draft next week, given the severity of his injury. He is set to undergo a long road to recovery, although he is projected to have a bright future ahead of him.
