Meet The Star Press 2025 All-Area Baseball Team and award winners

The Star Press is pleased to announce the 2025 All-Area baseball team, as well as our Baseball Player, Pitcher and Coach of the Year.

Delta led the way with three all-area selections after winning a second consecutive regional championship. The other two semi-state qualifying teams from East Central Indiana — Shenandoah and Wapahani — had two all-area selections apiece, while the former saw one standout player sweep The Star Press Player and Pitcher of the Year awards.

Player & Pitcher of the Year: Shenandoah senior Collin Osenbaugh

Osenbaugh had a stellar senior season on the mound and at the plate to earn both Player and Pitcher of the Year honors from The Star Press. The Louisville signee led Shenandoah on its deepest postseason run in nearly four decades, as the Raiders won their first sectional title since 2016 and their first regional title since 1987.

Osenbaugh was one of the best sluggers in the state of Indiana this season, batting .494 with a .647 on-base percentage (12th-highest in the state) and a 1.063 slugging percentage (second-highest in the state). His nine home runs tied with two other players for the most in the state, and his 51 RBIs were the fifth most in the state.

On the mound, Osenbaugh compiled a record of 8-2 with a 2.10 ERA and struck out 92 batters, tied for 23rd in the state. He had double-digit strikeouts in five games and pitched a no-hitter against Blackford on May 2.

Coach of the Year: Delta coach Jacob Van Pelt

Van Pelt guided Delta to county, sectional and regional trophies and had the Eagles playing in the semi-state round for the second year in a row, where they would lose a close one to Andrean, the eventual 3A state champion. Van Pelt’s Eagles produced five all-Delaware County selections (the most in the county) and three all-conference selections.
