Several sports news outlets are picking a trio of Florida Gators — Alex Condon, Boogie Fland and Thomas Haugh — to come off the board in the first round of the 2026 NBA draft, but USA TODAY is the first to project Fland as a top-10 pick.
Multiple big boards and mock drafts, including Bleacher Report and ESPN, have Condon and Haugh ahead of Fland, but the Arkansas transfer could move up after spending a chunk of last year injured. The former five-star recruit ranked inside the top 10 of this year’s transfer portal class after averaging 15.1 points and 5.7 assists through 18 games as a true freshman. He also shot 35.5% from 3-point range.
Fland is a strong transition player who likes to shoot early in the shot clock and does so with efficiency (56.7% eFG early in the shot clock). He doesn’t shoot as well under the pressure of the timer, which is something to work on for the draft. He’ll get plenty of playing time in a wide-open backcourt alongside Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee. Staying healthy is another key for Fland to ascend to top-10 status.
Condon and Haugh are two other players with high ceilings who are earning late first-round projections. USA TODAY is also high on them, putting Condon inside the top 20 at No. 19 and Haugh at No. 29, which is on the low end compared to other outlets.
Florida figures to be a player in the NBA draft for years to come if this class can make good on the “way-too-early” hype.
