Dalton Knecht’s Summer League Struggles Spark Concern Among Lakers Fans originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Los Angeles Lakers second year pro Dalton Knecht showed flashes of brilliance with coach JJ Redick’s team last season as he shot three-pointers at a high rate, knocking down nearly 38 percent of them while scoring 9.1 points per game on 46.1 percent shooting in his rookie season.
Knecht and the Lakers fell woefully short of their team goals despite strong individual performances as they were bounced from the playoffs by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.
On Sunday, fans began reaction feverishly to Dalton Knecht’s first two Summer League performances of the season as they shared their unfiltered thoughts on social media.
“Dalton Knecht’s first two Summer League games this season: 7.0 PPG, 5-20 FG, 0-9 3PT, 5 TO,” the page Underdog NBA wrote on X, sharing the news on the Lakers guard.
“That trade value really about to tank,” one fan said.

“It’s Summer League relax dawg,” another added.
“Bronny better,” another fan wrote of LeBron James’ son, who was part of the same draft class in 2024.
“I’m still a believer idc,” another added.
“Damn he turned into Bronny,” another added.
The University of Tennessee product was included in a trade for Charlotte Hornets big man Mark Williams last season but the trade ultimately fell through.
Fans wondered how Knecht would respond knowing that he was not valued by the team as much as a new center.
Heading into his second season, Knecht’s development could be a key piece to the puzzle for a Lakers team hoping for a return to the NBA Finals.
“He will bounce back,” one fan said.
