Rams’ Kyren Williams gives update on contract, plans for practice

There will be no hold-in for Williams after all

Along with the rest of the team, Kyren Williams reported to Los Angeles Rams training camp on Tuesday. His arrival was more notable than others, though, because of his current contract situation.

He and the Rams have been discussing a new deal all offseason and though nothing has gotten done yet, he remains confident the two sides will agree to a contract at some point. He just doesn’t know when that will happen.

It could even trickle into the season, which he would have no problem with. He even told reporters, “I want to play for the Rams, that’s why I want to stay with and I know it’ll work out.”

After Williams arrived to camp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Rams running back is a “potential hold-in candidate,” suggesting Kyren could decide to skip practices during these contract talks.

Williams was quick to dispel that notion during his opening press conference, saying emphatically that he will practice in full during camp.

Williams is as hard a worker as there is on the Rams, always putting in extra work to get better. That’s what makes his decision not to hold out so unsurprising. He loves football, even the grind of training camp before the season begins.

Sean McVay respects his dedication and work ethic, and it’s certainly showing in his commitment to the team this summer.
