Jalen Carter and a roster hopeful sit out of Eagles practice

Day two of Philadelphia Eagles practice began seamlessly, and the vibes couldn’t be any more positive. Nolan Smith led a few guys out onto the field early. AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and some Ozzy Osbourne provided the musical backdrop while everyone’s favorite defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, spoke with select media members before practice.

Fangio offered praise for Jalyx Hunt and Andrew Mukuba. He just isn’t quite ready to provide the same level of praise that Jordan Mailata did. Philadelphia’s left tackle stated after the first training camp practice that he sees some Micah Parsons-level of ability in Hunt.

We can see why Fangio is doing a coach’s job and trying to keep guys level-headed, but there isn’t anyone walking who doesn’t hope Mailata is accurate in his analysis. Adoree’ Jackson took first-team reps after Kelee Ringo had a rough day on Wednesday.

This time of year is about keeping everyone healthy and ensuring that everyone reaches Week 1 of the regular season in one piece, if at all possible. Jihaad Campbell (shoulder) and Cam Jurgens (back) were both limited, but both practiced. Two Eagles sat out of the session, but that seems to be a bigger issue for one of them.

Jalen Carter and Kenyon Green both continue to nurse injuries

Jalen Carter sat out the first Eagles training camp practice as he heals from a shoulder injury. One day later, he sat out of session number two. This appears to be a precaution that should prevent any issues. Again, Philadelphia needs him rested and healthy when they face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.

Kenyon Green also missed both sessions. His absence seems more concerning than that of Carter’s. He’s Tyler Steen’s most significant obstacle in winning a starting job, so his absences are seemingly more costly.

Avery Williams returned some kicks. Jihaad Campbell and Smael Mondon ran with the first team defense. Eagles training camp is in full swing, and after watching the Philadelphia Phillies lose a long game vs. the Baltimore Red Sox this past Wednesday, it’s good to see the guys in green on the field with nothing catastrophic to report.
