Ademola Lookman: Atalanta Bergamo rejects a second offer from Inter Milan

The Nigerian winger remains under contract in Bergamo despite another attempt from Inter Milan.

Ademola Lookman remains, for now, an Atalanta Bergamo player. In the last few hours, the club has turned down a second offer from Inter Milan, estimated at nearly €45 million, considering the proposal insufficient. This decision has sparked anger from the Nigerian international.

The Atalanta – Ademola – Inter saga is far from over. Inter Milan is ramping up efforts to sign the Nigerian winger during this summer transfer window. After an initial attempt that led nowhere, the Nerazzurri management submitted a second bid that once again failed to convince the Lombardy side.

The Milanese executives initially proposed €40 million plus €5 million in bonuses before adjusting their offer to €42 million plus €3 million in bonuses. However, this second proposal did not satisfy the Percassi family, owners of Atalanta. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s official response reached Inter’s offices on Friday, August 1, via a terse email. The Bergamo board simply thanked their Milanese counterparts for their interest while politely declining the offer. This firm stance underlines Atalanta’s determination to keep their star player or secure a significantly higher fee.

Ademola Lookman has already reached a personal agreement with Inter Milan on a five-year contract worth €4.5 million per year, but Atalanta’s stance is blocking the transfer. It’s a highly frustrating situation for the African Ballon d’Or winner. In response, the Nigerian international recently deleted all Atalanta-related photos and posts from his Instagram account—a clear signal of his discontent.
