Dez Bryant Issues Stern Warning to Jerry Jones After Being Named in Micah Parsons Contract Dispute

Micah Parsons has been one of the most productive linebackers in the NFL since being selected No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He has double-digit sacks in every season and is reportedly seeking to become the highest paid defensive player in the league.

While Parsons is under contract for the upcoming 2025-26 NFL season (club option), when he'll earn $24 million, he is reportedly seeking a long-term contract equal to his production.

Some contract negotiations take place privately, and details of the finalized contract are published after the fact. However, negotiations involving Cowboys' owner, Jerry Jones, are a wild card.

Jones made this conversation public, beginning with his controversial comments the day before training camp. In response, Parsons publicly requested a trade. And on Saturday, Jones went on a rant, blaming previous contract negotiations with now innocent bystanders, for how he's handling Parsons' current contract negotiation.

“Because when we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found. Jay-Z said that Dez (Bryant) would make all meetings. Jay-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours. He said, ‘Anybody in my organization is on time.' He said, 'My office used to be on the street corner, and I’ve always been early. So, they will be on time.’ And what did I say? I said, ‘I’m going to call you [when I have a problem].’ He quit taking my call,” Jones said.

Dez Bryant didn't take kindly to being dragged into this negotiation, so he responded quickly and harshly, issuing a stern warning to Jones.

"JERRY JONES I DONT THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME. I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR (EXPLETIVE).. ON SOME G (EXPLETIVE)… WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THATS WHAT WE ARE DOING," Bryant posted on his official X account.

Bryant continued on, posting multiple messages, all aimed directly at Jones.

"Yall don’t understand the amount of shit I let slide.. do not mention my name about shit. The love hate relationship is real!" Bryant posted.

Bryant played the first eight seasons of his NFL career for the Cowboys under Jones. After missing two seasons due to injury, he played his final season with the Baltimore Ravens before retiring at the end of the 2020 season.

Bryant went through his own contract dispute with Jones and the Cowboys during the offseason prior to the 2015-16 NFL season. Bryant even went as far as threatening to hold out if a new contract wasn't signed.

While he would end up putting on his Cowboys uniform and playing that year, he was ultimately released by the team in 2018 after he refused to take a pay cut. But according to Bryant, there's more to that story than meets the eye.
