4-star SF Billy White III commits to SMU

SMU kept a massive in-state prospect in the state of Texas when Corpus Christi (Tex.) Veterans Memorial small forward Billy White III told Rivals he was committing to the Mustangs.

Not only was he one of the top 2026 prospects, now White’s expected to reclassify to the 2025 class and enroll on the Hilltop. The 6-8 prospect committed to SMU over Kansas, LSU, Maryland, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M and Virginia.

White is ranked as the No. 41 overall player in the nation, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 18 small forward and the No. 4 player in Texas.

Billy White III broke down his game with KSR’s Jacob Polacheck in a recent interview. Andy Enfield and his staff will get their hands on him a year earlier than they could have with his reclassification.

“A big reason I get recruited is my shot-making ability at my size,” White said. “I’m in that 6-8 frame and weigh 195 pounds, so I can play that two, three range. I shoot the ball at an elite level, especially from the three-point line. I’m also a good positional guy. I can defend my position and defend multiple positions. I rebound the ball pretty well and I have a high basketball IQ, being around basketball my whole life.

“It doesn’t necessarily have to be me scoring the ball, but getting the ball where it needs to be off the bounce and making plays for my teammates,” White said. “Defensively, I want to show that I can defend my position and if I have to switch onto a big or guard, I can do that as well.”

White is the final piece to a 2025 recruiting class that already was Top 10 nationally, according to Rivals. He becomes the fifth high school addition in the class.
