In March, Louis Vuitton announced its long-anticipated entry into the luxury beauty world with the launch of its makeup line, La Beauté — with veteran makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath serving as creative director. On Tuesday, the French Maison shared an official first look at the products and packaging, which will officially be available to shop on Aug. 29.

The debut collection features 55 shades of richly pigmented lipsticks comprising two distinct finishes: a creamy satin and a velvety matte. There are also sheer, hydrating lip balms enriched with shea butter and hyaluronic acid, coming in 10 shades. Both lip products will be priced at €140 (about $163), or €60 ($70) for refills. Rounding out the lineup are eight eye-shadow palettes, each composed of four shades, set to retail for €220 ($257) or €80 ($93) for refills. Every product is encased in minimalist packaging featuring Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram.

“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity and innovation,” said McGrath in a press statement. “The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”

Despite La Beauté being a separate entity from the label’s apparel category, McGrath closely examined the House’s codes and archives to shape the collection: Since Louis Vuitton’s founding in 1854, it has always been rooted in craftsmanship, innovation and artistry. McGrath channeled those pillars into La Beauté, as each product comes in high-quality formulas and is crafted to be a forever heirloom (similar to a Louis Vuitton trunk or handbag).

“I’ve always said makeup is more than product: It’s performance, obsession and emotion. This new chapter is about pushing craftsmanship into a new realm,” McGrath said.

Louis Vuitton is one of several luxury brands currently expanding into beauty: In 2023, Prada re-entered the color cosmetics and skin-care space; the following year, its sister brand, Miu Miu, signed a licensing agreement with L’Oréal Groupe and Celine announced the launch of its makeup line, Celine Beauté.
