Broncos OLB Nik Bonitto had a great quote on his contract status

As the Denver Broncos continue to negotiate a long-term contract extension with outside linebacker Nik Bonitto, there seems to be a sense that a deal is inevitable — it’s just a question of when.

“They’re going well,” Bonitto said Tuesday when asked about extension talks. “I feel like there’s been good communication on both sides. I think it’s just my agent — I feel like he’s one of the best in the game. I feel like I gotta trust what he’s doing. Knowing how they feel about me upstairs, I feel like something will get done. It’s just a matter of when. Until then, I just have to keep doing me.”

Bonitto said the Broncos have made it clear that re-signing him is a priority for them, and it’s just a matter of finalizing the details. When asked if he’d like to wait to sign until after Micah Parsons gets an extension, Bonitto said he had no preference and would leave that up to his agent.

Bonitto also noted that the edge market is going in his favor because it continues to rise. When asked if he wants to have a deal done before the regular season begins, the 25-year-old pass rusher had a perfect response.

“I mean, not really,” Bonitto said. “At the end of the day, I’m still under contract for another year, so, yeah, I would like to get it done, but that’s like the least of my worries, honestly. I just want to compete for a championship this year [and] do all the things that we have set out to do as a team and as a defense.”

As his agent works on ironing out an extension, Bonitto is focused on preparing for another strong season as Denver’s defense looks to contend for a Super Bowl in 2025. It’s a great mentality to have. The contract will get done eventually. In the meantime, Bonitto’s focused on football.
