Using consensus to predict top 6 picks

We can speculate who the Raiders will take at sixth overall (and we have) all we want. But who they ultimately get is largely out of their hands. After all, you’d have to think they’d love to have a few guys who will be off the board when they are on the clock. So, they will have to choose from the best of what’s left.

So, let’s take a different angle on this to see who is most picked with the top five picks before we get to who is most picked for the Raiders at six. To do that, I went through 15 mock drafts from just the past three days from sources across the USA Today network as well as NFL media, The Athletic, NBC, LA Times, CBS, SI, 33rd Team, and PFF.

1. Titans — Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Unanimous number one overall selection among the group of mock drafts for this. Seems a foregone conclusion he will be the first name called.

2. Browns — Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

Abdul Carter was often times put here this offseason, but opinions have mostly turned to Hunter as the best player in this draft and the second player taken.

3. Giants — Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

With Hunter at two, Carter is likewise a near across-the-board pick as the next off the board, making the top three seem set.

4. Patriots — Will Campbell, OT, LSU

There were a few mocks that had a different player here, but the consensus is definitely that the Patriots will take the best tackle prospect in this draft at this spot. This is how the top four played out in our network mock draft as well.

5. Jaguars — Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

It seems like this would be where the draft predictions start to get more interesting. And I suppose if you compare it to the four picks above, that’s kind of true. Ten of the 15 mocks we collected had Graham as the picks. Interesting, however, that the Jaguars writer in our network mock had them taking Armand Membou. WR Tetairoa McMillan had a couple as did RB Ashton Jeanty.

6. Raiders — Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

This one was barely a majority. As eight of the 15 mocks collected had Jeanty. Others picks include Tetairoa McMillan, Armand Membou, Mason Graham, and a trade down to take Jihaad Campbell.
