Arizona Cardinals postgame injury news following preseason finale

CB Jaylon Jones appears to be the only player to get hurt against the Raiders and he should be fine.

The Arizona Cardinals came out of their final preseason game, a 20-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at State Farm Stadium, without any real injuries of note.

Only one player exited the game getting hurt, and it was minor.

Cornerback Jaylon Jones exited the game and was evaluated for a concussion, but head coach Jonathan Gannon said postgame, “I think he had a nose on the one tackle and then they had to look at him, but he’s fine.”

As Jones left the field, he held a towel against his face.

That is good news with roster cuts coming. It means, barring a sore ankle or hamstring, the Cardinals likely won’t have to make any extra decisions about injuries or have to waive players with an injury designation.

Jones appears to be a cut candidate.

But that doesn’t mean they don’t have their share of injury decisions to make.

As things stand, four players (DL Bilal Nichols, DL Waler Nolen, OLB BJ Ojulari and OL Will Hernandez) are on the active PUP (physically unable to perform) list. If they are activated by Tuesday, they must be part of the 53-man roster, but if they are moved to the regular-season PUP reserve, they must miss at least the first four games of the season. It appears that all four will start the season there.

Three players with knee injuries — OL Christian Jones, OL Hayden Conner and DL Justin Jones — could land on injured reserve, depending on the severity of their injuries. They can designate up to two players for return without spending time on the active roster by the roster cutdown date on Tuesday.

The next couple of days will be interesting to see.
