With Agency Spotlight, we’re featuring the independent PR and marketing agencies that Fashionista loves to work with. Meet the hardworking professionals behind them and discover what it really takes to make it in fashion publicity.
Seattle native Taylor Meckley founded her agency, TMpr, in 2023 upon graduating from Azusa Pacific University and moving to Hollywood during COVID.
“I started TMpr because I saw a gap between traditional PR and what brands actually need today — storytelling and communication that feels fresh, human and results-driven,” says Meckley. With years of experience in the fashion and entertainment space, she did not have outside funders at the time (and still doesn’t) but rather leaned on her contacts and network to gain her own clients and invested every dollar she made back into her business. Today, some of her roster includes Leau Clothing, 437 Activewear, Rebalance Vintage and Summer Away.
Having worked at larger firms in her past, the founder cites attention, intention and authenticity as perks clients can find with smaller agencies.
“At larger firms, it’s easy to feel like just another account on a roster, but at TMpr, every client’s story is personal,” says Meckley. “Of course, larger agencies may have broader infrastructure or legacy name recognition. But in my experience, those things don’t replace the impact of a hands-on, heart-forward approach. We’re not just here to get coverage, we’re here to make sure each client’s story is heard, felt and remembered.”
Over the years, Meckley has collected an admirable number of wins in the game of PR, one standout being the Nahmias x Andrés Reisinger collaboration in February of 2024. “It felt like a perfect collision of fashion, art and narrative, and the pop up in Los Angeles was so beautiful! We had incredible attendees & the response to the collection was so positive. The press response was also fantastic, with features in WWD, Fashion Network, The Hollywood Reporter and Hypebeast.”
In addition to placements, Meckley has also collected her fair share of learning experiences. “It’s not only okay to not be for everyone, it’s actually better,” she says. “The right clients will find you if you’re clear in your vision and values. Also, boundaries matter, and saying yes to everything leads to burnout, and burnout doesn’t serve your clients or your creativity.”
The founder’s advice to others includes trusting your inner voice, being kind, reliable and curious. “You don’t need to have it all figured out from day one. The glossy branding, perfect pitch deck or big team can come later. What matters most is showing up, doing the work well and building real relationships. Everything else can evolve as you grow.”
In the future, Meckley plans to continue expanding across industries. “I’m especially focused on expanding our talent and brands divisions and building thoughtful, long-term partnerships with clients whose vision and values align with ours. The goal is to stay intentional & inspired, and keep doing work that moves the needle.”
