Cherry Blossom Blush is Summer’s Prettiest Makeup Trend

If this era could be defined by a single makeup product, it might be blush. Not only is it super flattering, but there are now more options than ever before. Do we all have blush blindness? Maybe, but who cares!

Of course, our collective obsession with blush has been partly driven by social media, where new formulas or application techniques seem to emerge every day. The latest and most enticing for Summer 2025? A little something called “cherry blossom blush.” Its budding sweetness promises both a gorgeous glow and a more joyful makeup routine.

What is cherry blossom blush?

Cherry blossom trees are trending in the world of beauty. Just ask Peter Philips, creative and image director at Christian Dior Makeup, who said that the petal-pink eyeshadow look he created for the brand’s recent show in Kyoto was partly inspired by the beloved blooms.

Cherry blossom blush takes the concept to another part of the face. Inspired by the moment when the cherry blossoms burst from the branches, it’s all about infusing the cheeks with a seasonal glow. Although that may sound poetic, it’s literal, too: To apply cherry blossom blush you actually draw two small cherry blossom flowers on your cheeks. Yes, you read that right. How to do cherry blossom blush

To carry out this trend, you’ll need two different cream blushes in two different hues—one that is light pink and one that is fuchsia. Using the light pink, you’ll draw two flowers on the high part of your cheek, then dot each flower center with a small dab of fuchsia. But don’t worry, these flowers don’t need to perfect: The final step is to softly blend everything upward and outward with a brush in order to achieve a natural lift and a long-lasting flush.

Think of it as a more playful way to contour. Thanks to the use of two different cream blush colors, cherry blossom blush adds dimension to your face with a dewy, natural finish.

And anyway, who doesn’t want to channel their inner flower child teenager by drawing a few cute flowers on their face during their beauty routine? After all, small moments of play make life more fun—and we could all use a little more of that these day. So, move over bronzer. This summer is all about bloom-inspired blush.
