The Skort Is This Summer's Most Functional Trend

Congrats, you’ve made it to mini skirt season. But this year, a more practical sibling — the skort — is stealing the spotlight. Offering the look of a skirt with the comfort and coverage of shorts, skorts are a smart way to lean into leggy trends (like micro minis) without the risk of a wardrobe malfunction.

Think skorts are just for kids? Think again. According to data from Google Trends shared with Fashionista, shopping searches for “skorts” have hit at an all-time high. Specifically, “denim skort” was the top searched skort style in the past month, with “floral skort” as a close second. “Linen skort” interest rose 160% over the past month, while “black cargo,” “white linen,” “navy” and “beige” were popular color searches.

Whether you go sporty or polished, there’s a skort for every vibe. Try a pleated mini versions to tap into “tenniscore,” or keep it office-friendly with pinstripes or a wrap style for everyday. Either way, you’ll never regret taking the functional route.
