Vallejo: “Carvajal, Nacho and Vázquez were the ones who helped me the most”

Former Real Madrid defender Jesús Vallejo signed for Albacete this summer. The Spanish player talked in an interview with MARCA and shared a few thoughts about his tenure in the capital.

“Carvajal, Nacho and Lucas Vázquez were the ones who helped me the most during my injuries. I spent a lot of time with them and they helped me a lot. They also went through playing little, injuries… I remember this last one of ‘Carva’. And Dani, even while injured, set an example. He had the qualities of a great teammate, and I’m still in touch with them,” said Vallejo.

He was also asked about Vinicius and Mbappe.

“Vini is a very explosive player, always taking on opponents, and that makes a big difference. He needs that adrenaline. And I was surprised by how well Mbappé spoke Spanish from the start. And then, on the field, he is extremely fast as well,” he explained before saying that Rodrygo was the player who surprised him the most with his quality.

Vallejo also shared his thoughts about Fede Valverde, who seems destined to be the captain for many years to come.

“Maybe he’s a shy, quiet boy, but inside he has a very strong competitive nature, both in training and in matches. He doesn’t want to miss anything, not a single training camp with his national team or anything. He travels, trains, always committed… Football is his passion: He is a great captain for the club,” he said.

The defender wrapped up his interview by explaining how he thinks Real Madrid fans will remember him in the future.

“Perhaps as an odd player, but with a lot of affection, I think. The people who have known me know that I have always behaved well, always available for the team, and I have tried to give my best level from the role I have been given at each moment,” he said.
