Target fails to address backlash against its DEI pullback

In Target’s 2025 second-quarter earnings call, CEO Michael Fiddelke refused to address diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) or the backlash the company has received since rolling back its DEI initiatives. He instead spoke of merchandising goals and boosting store experiences. Since the Trump administration’s attack on diversity, Target has followed the lead of other retailers in adopting neutral messaging (such as saying “belonging” instead of “inclusivity”) and deprioritizing its promises made in 2020. {Modern Retail/paywalled}

Luxury brands face consumer distrust after scandals

Following the luxury industry’s latest supply chain scandals, brands are facing image crises and working to repair their reputations to regain consumer trust. While these scandals haven’t resulted in an immediate loss of sales, they can be damaging in the long term.
