Japanese Menswear Label Soshiotsuki Wins 2025 LVMH Prize

On Wednesday, LVMH named Japanese menswear brand Soshiotsuki the winner of its 2025 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers.

Designer Soshi Otsuki founded his eponymous menswear label in 2015, and was even shortlisted for the 2016 LVMH Prize following his second collection. As the winner of this year’s prize, Otsuki will receive €400,000 (~$466,000) and will be mentored for one year by a team of LVMH experts.

In a statement, Christian Dior Couture CEO Delphine Arnault applauded Otsuki’s “distinctive collections, which stand out for their impeccable tailoring and refined materials.”

British designer Steve O Smith won the Karl Lagerfeld Prize, which includes a €200,000 (~$233,000) endowment and a year’s mentorship by the LVMH Group. 

Torishéju Dumi, the British designer helming her namesake womenswear and menswear brand Torishéju, won this year’s Savoir-Faire Prize of €200,000 (~$233,000) and a one-year LVMH mentorship. Dumi will also receive support from the LVMH Métiers d’Excellence through a collaboration with Maison Vermont, which will provide €50,000 (~$58,000) of embellishments for her upcoming collection.

Each of the winners will also receive an allowance from the Nona Source platform, which upcycles deadstock materials from LVMH’s Fashion and Leather Goods brands. Otsuki will receive €20,000 (approx. $23,000), while Smith and Dumi will receive €10,000 (approx. $11,600) each.

This year’s winners were selected by a jury including Jonathan Anderson, Sarah Burton, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Nigo, Phoebe Philo, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Pharrell Williams, Delphine Arnault, Jean-Paul Claverie, Sidney Toledano and Deepika Padukone.
