Former Wisconsin veteran and current Indiana Hoosier Riley Nowakowski made his presence felt in his team’s 56-9 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday.
In his second game with Indiana, the 6-foot-1 Milwaukee native punched in a one-yard rushing score to open Indiana’s scoring surge early in the first quarter. The sixth-year playmaker’s score prompted an eruption from Indiana’s Memorial Stadium, and the Hoosiers never looked back. Nowakowski also logged one reception for 14 yards in the game, a catch that set up another touchdown sequence later in the first quarter.
The veteran arrived in Bloomington after electing to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 10, 2024. He officially transferred to Indiana on Dec. 18, and he’s now operating as the Hoosiers’ No. 1 tight end for the 2025 season.
In his crew’s Week 1 win over Old Dominion, Nowakowski logged two receptions for 15 yards. In two games, he’s responsible for 3 catches for 29 yards through the air and one rushing score.
In five years at Wisconsin, Nowakowski snagged 18 catches for 131 yards and one receiving score in 39 appearances. His best season came in 2024, a campaign during which he finished with 11 receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown in 12 games as UW’s No. 1 tight end.
Nowakowski’s Hoosiers will now gear up for a clash against Indiana State on Friday, Sept. 12.
