The president of Sevilla FC, José María del Nido Carrasco, appeared before the media to analyze the current situation of the club after the closing of the summer transfer market. Although his speech focused on the financial solvency of the entity, he avoided delving into the social issues and controversies that have surrounded the club in recent weeks.

Del Nido Carrasco showed an optimistic tone when addressing the club’s finances. “We have reduced the net debt to 66 million euros”, he stated. The president highlighted that despite the difficulties, the economic management is solid. “The economic reality of the club allows us to affirm that the club is solvent. We can affirm that the current cost of the squad is 85 million”, he added, thus defending the transfer policy and the expense structure.

Despite the insistence of the journalists, the president preferred not to elaborate on the tense atmosphere surrounding the Sevilla environment, marked by his absence from several institutional events and the debate over the board’s management.

In particular, he was asked about his absence from the “Fieles de Nervión” event, to which he responded: “I did not attend Fieles de Nervión because we understood that the protagonists were the Fieles de Nervión. That was our decision and I understand those who think it is a wrong decision”. With these words, Del Nido Carrasco tried to settle the controversy, although without offering an explanation that would calm the spirits.

When asked about the criticism and the social situation, the president limited himself to recalling the legal nature of the club and asking to close the chapter of the previous season. “This is a Sports Limited Company and the board has the majority shareholding. I assume the tension in the football context. It is time to close last season”, he concluded.

On a sporting level, Del Nido Carrasco expressed his enthusiasm for the changes made in the technical area. “We are very excited about the arrival of a new sports management and Matías Almeyda”, he stated, showing confidence in the new sports project.
