Best, worst players vs. Titans in Week 2

See which players were among the highest- and lowest-graded this week against Tennessee

After another sluggish start in the first half, the Los Angeles Rams turned things around in the second half against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. They outscored the Titans 23-6 in the final 30 minutes to win the game, 33-19, thanks to improvements on offense and yet another dominant showing from the defense.

Pro Football Focus released grades for every player who suited up for the Rams in Week 2 and we’re analyzing them by grouping the best and worst performers on each side of the ball. There were five standouts on offense who had grades of 78 or higher, while the defense had two players with grades that were at least 89.3.

Here’s a look at the best and worst players on offense and defense from Sunday’s win (min. 10 snaps).

Top 5 offense

  • TE Davis Allen: 89.4
  • WR Davante Adams: 82.2
  • WR Puka Nacua: 81.6
  • LT Alaric Jackson: 80.6
  • QB Matthew Stafford: 78.5

For the second week in a row, Allen had a positive impact at tight end, scoring his second touchdown of the season.

Adams and Nacua were both excellent in the win over the Titans, scoring one touchdown each and going over 100 yards from scrimmage. Adams had one drop and Nacua forced one missed tackle.

Jackson allowed just two pressures and no sacks, leading the team with an 83.7 run-blocking grade.

Stafford made two big-time throws and had two turnover-worthy plays, one of which was his ugly interception just before halftime.

Top 5 defense

  • OLB Byron Young: 90.0
  • OLB Quentin Lake: 89.3
  • CB Darious Williams: 79.5
  • CB Cobie Durant: 73.0
  • OLB Josaiah Stewart: 72.4

Young has been outstanding in the first two weeks, recording a career-best 90.0 grade on Sunday against the Titans. He led the team with six pressures and had two sacks, including one where he forced a fumble.

Lake bounced back after a shaky Week 1 performance, making five tackles with two stops and only 4 yards allowed in coverage on four targets.

Williams and Durant both shined with Ahkello Witherspoon out, allowing zero combined catches on four targets with one pass breakup each.

Stewart recorded his first career sack and recorded three total pressures.

Bottom 5 offense

  • RB Kyren Williams: 65.4
  • TE Tyler Higbee: 62.2
  • WR Konata Mumpfield: 58.8
  • RG Kevin Dotson: 54.1
  • WR Tutu Atwell: 49.2

Williams didn’t have a great day and it could’ve been much worse if not for runs of 15 and 12 yards on the Rams’ final drive. The blocking wasn’t great but he only forced one missed tackle.

Higbee caught four passes for 37 yards but his run-blocking grade of 55.9 weighed things down.

Mumpfield played sparingly and wasn’t targeted, so his grade was mostly moot.

Dotson didn’t allow a sack but he did give up three pressures and he finished with the worst pass-blocking grade (28.8) on the team.

Atwell dropped his lone target after getting blown up by Xavier Woods in the flat, so he was a non-factor again.

Bottom 5 defense

  • DL Larrell Murchison: 47.4
  • S Kamren Curl: 47.1
  • DL Kobie Turner: 46.2
  • DL Ty Hamilton: 45.9
  • S Kamren Kinchens: 44.9

Murchison had zero pressures and one tackle in his limited playing time.

Curl finished with seven tackles but allowed four catches on six targets for a team-high 59 yards.

Turner’s grade is surprisingly low considering he had four pressures and no missed tackles, including one sack.

Hamilton finished with two tackles but zero pressures.

Kinchens led the team with 10 tackles but like Curl, he gave up yardage in coverage, allowing 35 yards on five catches (five targets).

Other notables

  • RB Blake Corum: 74.7
  • NT Poona Ford: 65.2
  • OLB Jared Verse: 61.0
  • CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr.: 60.3

Corum made the most of his limited opportunities, rushing for 44 yards and a touchdown on just five carries.

Ford only had one pressure and two tackles in the win, earning a 69.1 run defense grade.

Verse was in and out of the game due to a potential concussion, finishing with three pressures and one missed tackle.

Forbes allowed 48 yards and a touchdown in coverage, but two of Elic Ayomanor’s catches were against tight coverage from Forbes down the sideline and on a miraculous scramble drill where Cam Ward bought about 10 seconds.
