Don't Let Disco Brought Craft and Community to New York Fashion Week

Don’t Let Disco’s Ashley Moubayed has had a lot on her mind.

For the past few months, the jewelry designer has been busy as a 2025 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, participating in various design opportunities and expanding her network. Add that on top of her daily operations as a brand owner (amid an especially challenging time to be one), and it’s anyone’s guess where in her schedule she has room to rest. But that hasn’t stopped her from pouring her time and effort into Don’t Let Disco’s Spring 2026 New York Fashion Week debut.

“Participating in New York Fashion Week, it feels like a fever dream,” Moubayed told Fashionista hours before the presentation. “It’s been a lot of fun, it’s been a lot of hard work, but it’s been such an incredible opportunity to share our message with a wider audience.”

The collection was inspired by the “art of connection,” per the show notes. “For too long the style discourse has been dominated by consumption. This collection is an invitation to slow down and shift our focus from the fleeting acquisition to the enduring art of creation. This is an invitation to consider not just what we wear, but the invisible threads that link us to each other and to the enduring stories objects hold.”

It was important that the presentation foster a sense of community among guests, which the brand achieved by hosting a beading bar, an opportunity for visitors to sit down and craft their own jewelry. (The RealReal provided Don’t Let Disco with deconstructed jewelry to be reused and reimagined.)

“Our beading bars are really a chance for our guests to come and to do something with their hands and to also understand the craftsmanship and labor that goes into our pieces,” Moubayed shared. “However, I think what’s truly special about them is the community that surrounds them. A lot of brands strive for [community] and want to create that, but ours has happened organically, and I think it’s such a beautiful thing to see.”
