Christian Louboutin named Jaden Smith as the label’s first men’s creative director. Gap Inc. taps industry veterans to lead beauty and accessories push

Gap Inc. has tapped Deb Redmond, Michele Parsons, Reed Krakoff and John Demsey to guide the label’s strategic expansion of Beauty and Accessories. Effective immediately, Gap Inc. appointed Redmond as Gap Inc. General Manager of Beauty and Parsons as Gap Inc. General Manager of Accessories to advance the strategy, product development, customer experience and go-to-market execution across the portfolio of brands. Condé Nast to launch creator shopping marketplace

Condé Nast is launching Vette, a new platform to enable creator-led commerce at scale. Creators will be able to design, curate and manage their online storefronts, owning their audience relationships through a new revenue share model. Vette’s AI-powered merchandising and marketing tools will turn creator storefronts into social-first shopping experiences. Vette will launch in early 2026 under the leadership of Lisa Aiken, Vogue‘s executive fashion director and Condé Nast’s senior vice president of commerce. {Fashionista inbox}

Gwyneth Paltrow introduces her new fashion line

Gwyneth Paltrow is launching Gwyn, the reincarnation of her Goop fashion collection G Label that she introduced at an intimate apartment presentation during New York Fashion Week. Gwyn is designed by Sofía Menassé, who previously worked at Maison Margiela. The collection includes a sleeveless scoop-neck dress, a mid-calf pleated skirt, a pea coat, cashmere tank tops, a leather pencil skirt and more. The clothes, which are made primarily in Italy, range from $395 to about $1,300 and will be available on the Goop website and in Goop stores on Sept. 21. {The New York Times/paywalled}

FIT to open ‘Adapt/Evolve’ exhibition

On Thursday, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) will open its “Adapt/Evolve” exhibition, a multidisciplinary gallery that explores the world of adaptive design and its intersection with inclusivity, innovation and aesthetics. The exhibit will spotlight over 60 pieces — predominantly made by alumni, faculty and students — including garments, footwear, accessories and jewelry. The “Adapt/Evolve” showcase will be open to the public from Thursday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. {Fashionista inbox}

Set against a challenging environment of tariffs, dimming consumer sentiment and a luxury slowdown, New York Fashion Week designers focused on what sells. Brands introduced products that will be a surer bet on the sales floor, and re-evaluated price points. Area and Elena Velez broadened their mix to include basics retailing below $400. Kate Barton emphasized ready-to-wear and accessories. International fashion editors on opting out of NYFW during Trump

As the Trump administration encourages ICE and border patrol to crack down on tourists and civilians alike, The Cut’s Danya Issawi interviewed international fashion editors about opting out of NYFW because of the chaotic state of American politics. A London-based editor shared that they knew people who were detained or had their phones searched at border patrol. “I’ve traveled to Russia and China for work, and this feels like that,” they said. {The Cut/paywalled}
