Simkhai Shows Sculptural Wedge Sandals, Water Shoes for Spring 2026

For designer Jonathan Simkhai, footwear remains a fast-growing category, with accessories being a significant bright spot, as he heads into spring 2026.

During an interview backstage after his recent show during New York Fashion Week this month, Simkhai glowingly introduced his latest collection of footwear. “This season’s shoe collection emphasizes a blend of architectural and sculptural elements with a feminine touch,” he told FN.

The Darya wedge thong sandal was a standout style this season. Made in both leather and suede versions, the sandal leans into Simkhai’s love of architectural and sculptural elements via the heel’s cut-out detail for an airier take on a wedge.

But Simkhai noted he is “most excited” about the introduction of a water shoe this season. “The slip-on style can be worn in a casual way, but also in more polished looks,” the designer noted. “It’s comfortable, stretchy and suitable for various occasions.”

The Caspian water shoe, as it’s dubbed, comes in netted and suede versions, and is sure to be a spring footwear stable next season. Simkhai also showed the Maris strappy sport sandal in leather and satin versions, as well as the Emery clog in leather and suede.

This new shoe range compliments Simkhai’s overall inspiration for the collection this season.

For spring/summer 2026, Simkhai turned to the rhythms of surf culture and the coastal sensibility of Southern California. Based on images seen in the film “Lords of Dogtown,” this collection draws inspiration from sun-bleaching, natural textures, hues, and forms of the ocean. Sunlight reflecting off the surface of water, the softened edges of driftwood, and the shifting scales of fish all come into play with a collection that attempts to capture a balance of serenity and modernity.
