WWE Wrestlepalooza live updates and results: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar up first

Hello, wrestling fans! WWE is at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the first Wrestlepalooza since 2000. In the first match of the night, 17-time World Champion John Cena, who is in the midst of a yearlong retirement tour, was neutralized by his rival and 10-time WWE World Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. In the next match, up-and-coming tag team The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed) overcame The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) — with a little help from guest referee LA Knight.

A new Women’s World Champion was crowded at Wrestlepalooza, too. Iyo Sky was the heavy favorite going into the match with Stephanie Vaquer for the title Naomi vacated when she announced her pregnancy last month. After a back-and-forth affair, Vaquer went for Sky’s knee and Sky was never able to fully recover. Eventually, Vaquer got the pin and the first title of her WWE career.

Three-time Divas Champion AJ Lee made her return to WWE after over a decade away in a mixed tag team event with her husband, six-time World Champion CM Punk. The couple took on World Heavyweight title-holder Seth Rollins and his wife, Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch in a wild match. For a while, it seemed Lee might never see the ring, as bitter rivals Punk and Rollins seemed resigned to duke it out amongst themselves. Once Lee was tagged in, though, the party really started. Finishers, submission attempts, announcers’ tables — the couples threw everything they had at each other until Lee was able to lock Lynch into her Black Widow finisher for the submission.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes closed the show against his former The Dashing Ones tag teammate Drew McIntyre. It seemed as if Rhodes might be slowed down by an injury early, but in the end it McIntyre who was hampered by a leg injury and pinned, giving Rhodes the victory.

Andreas Hale broke down all the action at WWE Wrestlepalooza.
