Chase Young still not practicing on Week 4 Saints-Bills injury report

It’s getting to a point of frustration with Chase Young. The New Orleans Saints defensive end was not present at Wednesday’s practice session while continuing to work on a preseason calf injury, as was offensive lineman Dillon Radunz (toe).

Young had a reputation for being prone to injury earlier in his career, and his 2024 season was his first to play in every game on the schedule. The Saints liked what they saw enough to reward him with a multiyear contract extension earlier this spring. Unfortunately, he’s now trending towards missing his fourth game to open the season. It’s tough to see him playing on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills if he can’t get on the practice field this week.

Injuries happen. It’s unfortunate that it happened to Young, given his history. But it’s just the latest point of contention between a proud fanbase disappointed in what may become a five-year playoffs drought and a front office that’s played too fast and loose with their salary cap spending.

As for the rest of the injury report? The Saints listed three players as limited participants on Wednesday to start the week of practice. Right tackle Taliese Fuaga (knee/back) was on a pitch count alongside wide receivers Trey Palmer (hamstring) and Devaughn Vele (hip). Defensive end Cameron Jordan (groin) and left guard Trevor Penning (toe) were full-go while receiving treatment.

For their part, the Buffalo Bills held three players out of practice — offensive lineman Spencer Brown (calf), linebacker Matt Milano (pectoral), and defensive tackle Ed Oliver (ankle) — while defensive end AJ Epenesa (pectoral) got to work on limited reps. We’ll look for updates on everyone’s status throughout the week.
