Davante Adams injury update: How to handle the Rams WR vs. Colts in Week 4

This preseason it sure looked like Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was in trouble. His back wasn’t letting him practice and at 37 years of age AND a being a person who gets sat on by 350 pound humans, it sounded iffy for him to be his usual self. Of course, this is Matthew Stafford. He started his career with back-to-back season ending injuries, then tore his ACL a few years later, and then in 2019 the back problems started up. Back fractures, spinal cord contusion, and then most recently an aggravated disc. How this man is still playing near the top of his game is nothing short of remarkable. And one player who is very happy he’s doing so is Davante Adams.

Adams spent most of his career with Aaron Rodgers pre darkness retreat and it was glorious, but since then, stints with the Raiders and Jets had sapped his greatness. Was it age or bad quarterback play or a combination of both? So far, this season, it sure looks like it was bad quarterback play.

Adams currently has 13 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns through three games, and this comes with Puka Nacua leading the league in fantasy points. The question this week regards Adams’ hamstring, which isn’t quite 100% this week.

Davante Adams injury updates

Adams was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday due to a hamstring injury. He was able to get in a limited practice on Friday and is officially questionable.

Fantasy football analysis

The positive news is that head coach Sean McVay feels good about Adams playing this week.

As long as he’s able to go, he’s a must start. If he can’t go, Puka Nacua would of course see a huge target percentage, but he’s already so high up it will be tough to get him much higher. I’d expect more work for Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Wide receiver Jordan Whittington would see an uptick, but it’s tough to see any other receiver on the team commanding big targets.
