Fall weekends call for everything from cozy errands to chic dinner plans, but it doesn’t take much to update your wardrobe accordingly. If you have a solid foundation of basics, a few well-chosen items are all it takes to refresh your existing closet for the current season. Hero pieces like leather jackets, statement sneakers, or even a classic accessory in an on-trend color will do the trick. After scouring runway trends and scoping out my fellow fashion girlies, these are the all-star pieces I’ll be counting on to inject my weekend style with new life — until the next season, that is.

1This Relaxed Twist On An Iconic Bag

The Coach Tabby bag is an undisputed icon, and this softer shape with its supple, broken-in leather is ideal for days off. It’ll look right at home whether I’m meeting friends for coffee or heading off to a dinner date, and comes with an optional crossbody strap that’ll make any necessary errands a breeze.

2Thick Hoop Earrings In Warm Maple Tortoiseshell Resin

A chunky gold hoop will never steer you wrong, but I like something a little less sleek for casual days. These tortoise resin hoops add warmth and texture to an outfit, even if that outfit happens to be a sweater and jeans, with stainless steel plated in 18-karat gold for a hypoallergenic finish that you can wear all weekend long.

3A Sophisticated Twist On The Nautical Pullover

Candidly, a chic pullover like this might end up being the most-worn piece in my weekend wardrobe. It’s great for pulling on after the gym because you get a sweatshirt’s coziness that still feels elevated, which lends equally well to jeans or tucked into trousers. I also love how it’s styled here, with leather shorts and tall boots for a fun night out.

4The Unexpected Accessory Every Fashion Girlie Is Wearing

Scarves for fall are hardly groundbreaking, but influencers and A-listers alike have leaned into the less expected satin scarf for the season. The latest way to wear the microtrend is wrapped around the hips, but the fashion girlies have styled theirs so many ways that you really can’t go wrong as long as you have one.

5Wide-Leg Jeans In Organic Cotton

ALIGNE’s loose, low-rise jeans promise to be roomy as sweatpants and almost as comfortable in 100% organic cotton that’ll soften with every wear. The low-slung waist taps burgeoning denim trends and an extra-long inseam is intended to puddle at your foot, which means they can also be paired with a slightly higher heel if you have dinner plans later.

  • Available sizes: W24 — W40
  • Available colors: 2

6A Tongue-In-Cheek Denim Shirt

The off-duty answer to your classic button-down: A denim shirt. I love how the embroidered crest on this one gives it a tongue-in-cheek quiet luxury vibe that still feels comfortably casual. Try it with denim pants for a chic Canadian tuxedo, wear it open over a sports bra and leggings, or tucked into a midi skirt: It’s every bit as versatile as your jeans.

7A Chic Sneaker In Y2K-Inspired Logo Canvas

A chic sneaker goes a long way towards polished casual attire, which is why I’ve got my eye on these kicks from Coach. Their logo canvas taps the early aughts in a neutral color palette that roots them in sophistication; they’re downtown cool with baggy denim, but I could just as easily see these with some creamy knit co-ords for travel.

8A Midi Cargo Skirt That Goes With Literally Every Kind Of Shoe

This may be the ultimate transitional skirt, and I don’t say that lightly. Its midi hem combined with a slit means you can pair this with sneakers or tall boots alike, and literally every type of heel. I’m already picturing it with an oversize cashmere sweater and tall boots for a cozy dinner, or perhaps a cropped turtleneck and stilettos if the plans are a little more fabulous.

  • Available sizes: Small — X-Large
  • Available colors: 15

9A Moto Jacket In Buttery Leather

The moto jacket gets an uptown twist in ALIGNE’s collarless design, creating a silhouette that’s almost ladies-who-lunch — but in boxy, buttery leather. The lack of collar looks especially good over a turtleneck, but one of my favorite ways to wear the style is over a femme dress to create an interesting juxtaposition of contrasts.

10The Necklace Trend Of The Season

Fashion insiders have dubbed a bold pendant necklace the must-have accessory of the season — especially when they’re suspended from a cord — and this one allows me to get in on the celeb-approved trend for less than the price of a Caesar salad. Suddenly, even a plain black turtleneck turns into a look.

11A Wool Scarf In Rich Oxblood

Moody wine tones are a recurring theme in fall fashion, especially this year paired with rich mocha brown. Acne is known for its oversize mohair scarves, but the brand’s classic fringe wool scarf is just as cozy and a bit more wearable. Pick it up in burgundy now to ride the trend today, and it’ll look just as timeless next year.

12A Sweater Shawl That Does The Work For Me

I don’t know how the TikTok girlies always manage to tie sweaters so perfectly over their shoulders, but my struggle is over thanks to this sweater shawl. It’s designed to look like a pullover that’s perfectly knotted and always seems to lay just so — without spending 20 minutes in the morning trying to get it right.

13A Pointed Ankle Boot To Dress Up Baggy Denim

One hidden benefit to puddle jeans is that they can also handle a small heel: perfect for dressing up a bit without changing your entire outfit. The Arezzo Sasha boot has a sharp pointed toe that’ll look so good peeking out from beneath those jeans, while the heel is just high enough — 2.75 inches — to look sleek and sophisticated, yet wearable by day.

  • Available sizes: 5.5 — 11
  • Available colors: 3

14A Luxe, Oprah-Approved Water Bottle Crossbody For The Gym

Named one of Oprah’s Favorite Things, the WanderFull HydroBag is it when you’re traveling light. It’s made from vegan leather and features a waterproof bottle compartment with two zip pockets designed to hold your phone, cards, keys, and a lip balm. (Plus, long and short carrying straps.) It’s all I need for the gym, because I won’t have to juggle my phone, water bottle, and AirPods between machines anymore.

15A Beanie That Won’t Totally Wreck My Blowout

Hats: Essential for cold weather, havoc on hair. I’ll be counting on this beanie for chilly days, since its satin lining works just like a silk pillowcase to prevent frizz and preserve my blowout. Besides, the aesthetic was practically made for lazy days, injecting cool-girl energy into casual outfits whether they involve joggers or jeans.
