St. Brown remains WR2 after win over Browns

St. Brown continues to thrive for fantasy managers

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown remains in strong contention to be 2025’s WR1 after another strong performance against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

St. Brown finished as WR3 in both 2023 and 2024, but is an early contender to finish at the top spot in 2025. After Sunday’s full slate of games, St. Brown ranks behind only Los Angeles Rams wideout Puka Nacua in PPR points through four weeks of the NFL season.

The 34-10 win for the Lions wasn’t as flashy as their wins the last two weeks, but it did show that a couple of their stars can still churn out points for fantasy managers while facing an elite defensive front. St. Brown and running back Jahmyr Gibbs proved again to be as reliable as any fantasy options in the league.

Amon-Ra St. Brown: 26 points

St. Brown saw his typical usage against the Browns and made the most of it on a day where quarterback Jared Goff wasn’t quite as sharp as he had been. He caught all seven of his targets for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s now caught two or more touchdowns in two of his last three games.

Jahmyr Gibbs: 17.7 points

Gibbs had a solid game on a day when rushing yards were hard to come by against a high-powered Browns defensive line. He climbed over the 90-rushing-yard mark for the second time this season, including a couple of 20+-yard bursts.

Gibbs finished with 91 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries to go along with two catches for six yards.

Jared Goff: 13.72 points

Jared Goff wasn’t incredibly sharp on Sunday, with good reason as Browns superstar Myles Garrett was breathing down his neck for much of the game. Goff completed 16 of 27 passes for 168 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

He particularly missed out on a handful of would-be chunk plays to Jameson Williams that made that connection look particularly out of sync. It shouldn’t be anything to be worried about going forward, but it did limit the offense’s potential against the Browns.

Kalif Raymond: 9.3 points

Wide receiver and return specialist Kalif Raymond isn’t typically on the fantasy radar week-to-week, but he did contribute two catches for 13 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. For fantasy leagues that value it, Raymond also returned a punt for a touchdown.

His performance represents a great return to form for the Lions on special teams, but doesn’t warrant any waiver wire adds for typical PPR leagues.

Sam LaPorta: 6.9 points

Tight end Sam LaPorta had another bland fantasy performance on Sunday, earning only four targets for the third consecutive game. He caught three of those, finishing with 39 yards.

LaPorta has clearly been the fourth or sometimes fifth option in the Lions’ passing attack this season. He ranks near the middle of the pack for tight end fantasy scoring so far this season.

Jameson Williams: 5.7 points

Wide receiver Jameson Williams could have left Sunday’s game as Week 4’s WR1 after being the target of multiple deep shots from Jared Goff. Williams dropped one of them but he and Goff just seemed to be on different pages for most of the game.

Williams salvaged his day with a couple of catches amounting to 40 total yards, but he was targeted eight times so a lot was left on the table. He should be able to bounce back once the Lions go up against a team with a lesser pass rush than the Browns.

David Montgomery: 1.2 points

The biggest regression candidate for this Lions team was always going to be running back David Montgomery who scored nearly 30 points last week, only to get completely bottled up against the Browns run defense on Sunday.

Montgomery didn’t find nearly the running room he found against the Ravens, picking up just 12 yards on nine carries. He was targeted once in the passing game but didn’t haul it in. While he clearly took a back seat to Jahmyr Gibbs in this game, he’ll still be a solid option in the coming weeks.
