Vestiaire Collective launches carbon credits from circular fashion

Vestiaire Collective is the first resale platform to launch carbon credits from circular fashion. The luxury resale platform’s new initiative issues credits that quantify emissions prevented when consumers purchase pre-loved fashion instead of buying new. This approach is based on a rigorous methodology, which was independently developed by Inuk and certified by AmSpec2. It supports the transition to a low-carbon economy by unlocking funding for climate solutions through the issuance of carbon credits, each representing one ton of CO2 avoided or removed from the atmosphere. {Fashionista inbox}

Ralph Lauren drops net-zero emissions target

The company said its focus will be on rolling five-year targets to curb greenhouse-gas emissions in line with global ambitions to cap atmospheric heating at levels that avoid a climate crisis. Ralph Lauren has already exceeded its current target to cut greenhouse-gas emissions 30% by 2030, compared to a 2020 baseline. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}
