No. 5 Texas A&M (5-0, 2-0 SEC) will take on the Florida Gators in a game that, on paper, is critical for both programs, which are currently on different trajectories, but for the Aggies, staying undefeated before hitting the road for three straight weeks is the primary goal. This game also serves as another key opportunity to host a long list of 2027 recruits, including five-star cornerback John Meredith.
While it isn’t the only contributing factor, Texas A&M’s success on the field has led to increased interest from a bevy of top 2027 recruits who were not considering the Aggies previously. Now, focusing on the game at hand, Texas A&M’s game-day depth chart will include the return of senior safety Bryce Anderson and senior linebacker Scooby Williams, according to the latest SEC Availability Report on Friday night.
Anderson is not on the list, while Williams is probable, giving him a 75% chance or better to play against his former team. Reserve safety Jared Kerr is also probable, while freshman tight end Kiotti Armstrong remains out and will miss the game. For Florida, the Gators will be without ten players, including two reserve offensive linemen, but no current starters are slated to miss the game.
While Texas A&M’s defense has played at an elite level over the past two weeks, Florida’s defense is also highly formidable, especially in the trenches. However, like last weekend’s 31-9 win over Mississippi State, coach Mike Elko and his talented roster are looking to eliminate the penalties that have killed too many offensive drives, and stop leaving points on the field in the first half.
