
ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 43-35 behind an excellent offensive performance. Georgia’s offense scored on all eight drives outside of the kneel downs at the end of the game.However, despite Georgia’s offensive success the Bulldogs still faced a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Georgia allowed five consecutive Ole Miss touchdowns to start the game as the Rebels entered the fourth quarter with a 35-26 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Dawgs held Ole Miss to just 13 total yards and outscored the Rebels 17-0. The Georgia crowd made a big difference as the Bulldogs finally heated up Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was frustrated with Georgia’s hot and cold defensive performance, but was glad to get a top-10 win at home. Smart moves to 8-0 against top-10 opponents in Sanford Stadium.Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton had five total touchdowns and no turnovers in an outstanding performance. UGA tight end Lawson Luckie scored three touchdowns in the win. The Bulldogs scored on drive after drive despite facing pressure to score due to their defensive struggles.
“Our ability to run the ball at the end of the day is probably the difference in the game,” Kirby Smart said after the Georgia win. “We sure couldn’t stop them very often. We stopped them when we had to. Great crowd, unbelievable crowd. Hats off to Ole Miss.”Next up for Georgia is a bye week ahead of the Georgia-Florida game. The Bulldogs are now 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC.
