NBA Insider Lists Four Sacramento Kings' Offseason Trade Targets

The Sacramento Kings, as they prepare for a full offseason under first-year general manager Scott Perry and newly promoted head coach Doug Christie, have a clear list of needs.

While the talent in Sacramento is undeniable, the roster is simply not cohesive at all. A core of Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk, DeMar DeRozan, and Zach LaVine is simply not very good without a point guard.

The Kings have some draft capital and role-players to trade, especially if they are willing to unload Keegan Murray, and four names pop up as possible targets.

“The trade market for point guards is thin because of unknowns surrounding teams with questions of their own entering the summer,” wrote ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel. “Trae Young and Ja Morant are the two younger stars a team like the Kings would have the option of discussing in trade talks should the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies open those conversations.”

Of course, those stars would come with a hefty asking price, as broken down in our recent NBA mock trade. However, the Kings could target a solid, although not an All-Star, point guard from the Indiana Pacers.

“The Indiana Pacers are another team worth mentioning as a franchise with point guards who could hit the trade market,” Siegel continued. “Since Myles Turner is set to hit free agency and the Pacers want to retain him, it is possible Indiana enters the offseason looking to offload a player or two for salary reasons. Could Andrew Nembhard and TJ McConnell become available as a result?”

If dealing with the Pacers, reminders of the ill-fated trade that sent All-NBA point guard Tyrese Haliburton to Indiana would be hard to escape, once again reminding fans that the Kings’ front office has to earn their trust after years of negligence.
