As Bella Hadid kindly reminded us yesterday, the sheer trend is still here. But while the model showed us how to tackle it in our everyday outfits, Dua Lipa is taking the opposite approach, bringing the see-through look to her formalwear.
Yesterday, the singer honored her friend, the director and screenwriter Pedro Almodóvar, at the 50th Chaplin Award Gala in New York City. Never one to wear anything less than showstopping, she opted for a dress from Daniel Roseberry’s fall 2025 collection for Schiaparelli. Wearing look 14, Lipa donned a black body-conscious maxi dress rendered in a sheer, textured fabric. While the strong-shouldered number already revealed some serious skin, a trail of keyholes down the front of the dress allowed Lipa to show off her belly button ring. (No stranger to the diaphanous look, she wore a sparkling chainmail Bottega Veneta dress to the Barbie premiere in 2023.)
The singer elevated her look thanks to Schiaparelli’s surrealist anatomical jewelry. Like the runway look, Lipa wore a thick gold collar necklace affixed with an eye, nose, mouth, and keyhole pendants that hung down her sternum—not to mention the outsized keyhole and eye earrings that reached her collarbone.
Lipa no doubt knew she had to bring her sartorial A-game for the occasion. Almodóvar, after all, is a force of fashion himself. Dressed like an incredibly chic member of Scooby Doo’s Mystery Inc. crew, the director wore a turquoise Loewe suit with a pale pink button-down, and a tangerine and magenta ascot.
While they definitely did not coordinate outfits ahead of time, Dua Lipa and Pedro Almodóvar each came dressed to the nines last night.
