Caitlin Clark’s popularity has changed the game for the WNBA. Is that a good thing? What issues do women’s sports still have to contend with? Tell us below.

The new WNBA season starts May 16. You won’t know this, but that’s a wild thing for me to know. I haven’t been a sports fan for decades now.

I stopped caring about the NFL and MLB years ago, and I haven’t watched the NBA since I was a kid. Forget about college sports. Basing my mood around the activities of millionaires just seemed silly as I got older.

I lost almost all interest in sports. But somehow I know when the WNBA starts, and I have family members who seem excited about the league’s return.

Why? Caitlin Clark, obviously.

Now, living in Phoenix for several years exposed me to the Mercury and the great Diana Taurasi. But it wasn’t until Clark’s emergence in the national arena that I paid much attention to the sport. She and a growing roster of superstars made 2024 the year the WNBA broke out. So I am excited about what the new season will bring and to see if the league can grow on all that momentum.

Will the WNBA 2025 season change the game?

Today, we want to ask you all if you’re excited for what 2025 will mean for the league or if you think it will all just go away. Or, maybe you don’t care. That would be odd, tbh, because you’re reading this.

Let us know in the form below or send us an email to forum@usatoday.com with the subject line “Forum WNBA.” We’ll use the best of the comments for a follow-up post. Here are some questions to get you started:

  • Are you excited for the WNBA to start?
  • Have you always been a fan or are you new? Why?
  • Do you believe Caitlin Clark gets too much coverage?
  • Do you believe Clark has been great for the league and women’s sports in general?
  • Can the WNBA sustain this rise of popularity?
