Savannah James played co-host for the 20th Annual Hammer Museum Gala in the Garden on Saturday in Los Angeles. The event, which is a highlight of the museumâs fundraising calendar, honored Jane Fonda and Lauren Halsey. James co-chaired the event with her friend April McDaniel, who is also a co-host on their Everybodyâs Crazy podcast.
James chose a black pleated semi-sheer Issey Miyake dress. For accessories, she carried an Hermes bag featuring a matching gold handle, and the gold tone details continued with a footnote that was a work of art on its ownâGiuseppe Zanottiâs Venus sandals.

The Italian brandâs strappy footwear features an intricate wrap-around gilded metallic design that creates a flattering illusion of extra height by elongating the appearance of the ankles, and itâs complete with a sinuous finish across the toe strap. Crafted in black suede, the sandal is set on a 4.7-inch heel.
Itâs become an iconic treasure in Zanottiâs brand history since it released in fall 2012, and it was reimagined with its current metallic details in 2020 as part of the âIcons Project,â a re-edit of styles with contemporary twists.

âMy approach to design has always been about pushing forward and creating new worlds and fantasies. Yet, at the same time, two decades on, I was compelled to share some of my most revered creations and give the new generation a chance to experience their beauty,â said Giuseppe Zanotti, founder and creative director of his namesake brand in a previous interview with WWD. âFar from nostalgic, this project is a fresh chance to write an exciting new story. These are my icons and icons transcend seasons and trends.â

As previously reported in February, Zanotti, who founded the brand in 1994 and sold a 30 percent stake in 2014, repurchased the minority stake from L Catterton, regaining full control.
âIâm grateful to L Catterton for their support and collaboration over the years. This is both a return to my roots and a step towards the future, allowing the brand to shape its long-term growth with complete independence,â said Zanotti. âFashion is about freedom and creativity â Iâm excited to lead this next phase with the same energy, dedication and passion as always.â

Savannah attended the event with her husband LeBron James, who wore a collarless Louis Vuitton suede jacket featuring the companyâs Damier check and turquoise buttons. For shoes, he picked Vuittonâs LV maxi trainers in brown suede.
On the subject of museum galas, the pair was expected to attend the Metropolitan Museum of Artâs Met Gala together for the Costume Instituteâs new exhibit âSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style.â The event included a âTailored for Youâ dress code, which Savannah attended solo in a dramatic, custom gown by Hanifa. LeBron, who was this yearâs honorary chair, couldnât attend the event due to a knee injury.
In addition to hosting her podcast, itâs been a busy time for Savannah. The 38-year-old recently launched Reframe, a clinical luxury skin care brand designed for all skin tones. The three-product lineâfeaturing a brightening serum, daily moisturizer, and night creamâwas developed over two years with Howard Universityâs College of Dermatology.
âItâs for all skin across the Fitzpatrick Scale,â James told WWD earlier in May. âI am a Black founder, but I thought about all people when I created this brand.â
With sleek, art-inspired packaging, Reframe targets educated Millennial consumers. âComing from using things that come from dermatologists and aestheticians, itâs not sexy, itâs not funâŠ.We got a lot of inspiration from art, from music, from culture, from fashion,â she added.
